Daniel Grab

As a private cello teacher in San Diego, Daniel coaches beginners through college graduates.  His students have prominent roles in youth orchestras throughout San Diego County, have won competitions including the San Diego Cello Society’s Young Cellist Competition and the MTAC’s VOCE, perform as soloists with local orchestras, and have earned merit scholarships to such programs as Crossroads School, Center Stage Strings, Aspen Music Festival, and university music programs throughout the country.

As an active performer throughout southern California, Daniel is principal cellist of the Poway Symphony Orchestra, and has subbed with the San Diego Symphony. He is a founding member of Trio Aquarelle and Duo Chaparral, and can also be heard in recital, and as a soloist with area orchestras in LA and San Diego.

During the summer Daniel is on faculty at the Burgos International Music Festival in Spain. There he gives lessons, coaches chamber music, and performs on faculty concerts alongside violinist Pasha Tseitlin and cellist Ruslan Biryukov, both prominent San Diego string teachers themselves.

In his free time Daniel enjoys playing golf, and exploring the Southern California Coastline in pursuit of uncrowded waves, sometimes taking one of his cello students along with him.
