Duo  Karolina Mikolajczyk & Iwo Jedynecki

Duo Karolina Mikołajczyk & Iwo Jedynecki is one of the most interesting and innovative chamber ensembles of the young generation, breaking all stereotypes regarding the instruments and escaping the usual repertoire schemes. Winners of the first prizes and the Grand Prix at international music competitions in France, Croatia, Austria, Italy and Poland, gaining recognition from artists such as Krzysztof Penderecki and Maxim Vengerov. They have performances from in New York’s Carnegie Hall, at the Warsaw Autumn festival, as well as recitals in France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Georgia, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, the United States and Cuba.

The duo’s performances are described as perfect and mature, but also brilliant and full of youthful vitality, and the world-famous violinist Maxim Vengerov described them as “a duo so harmonious that it sounds like one instrument”.
Artists boldly reach for well-known works of chamber literature, giving them a new face, which in the transcriptions of Iwo Jedynecki impresses with a variety of colors. The band also willingly performs contemporary music and collaborates with leading Polish composers, e.g. Marcin Błażewicz (Double Concerto for violin, accordion and symphony orchestra dedicated to Duo), Piotr Moss (Opole Concerto for violin, accordion and orchestra performed with the New Music Orchestra in 2021), Krzysztof Penderecki (official permission to perform his own arrangement of the Sonata for violin and piano from Maestro,
at the European Music Center in Lusławice).

In 2016, the debut album of Duo Karolina Mikołajczyk & Iwo Jedynecki was released.

“Premiére”, containing works for violin and accordion by living composers, written in the years 1952-2015, mostly phonographic premieres. It was the first album on the world market with new music performed by a violin and accordion duo. The team has also made a number of innovative video presentations. The music video for WA Mozart’s Sonata, developed and performed by Duo, has received over a million views on the Internet, and excerpts from JS Bach’s Goldberg Variations and Wojtek Kostrzewa’s The Hollywood Fantasy – over 100,000 views, thanks to being made available by the most famous portal dedicated to classical and film music – the British Classic FM .
