NWEAMO Fest 2027 – Call for Works
Theme: “Pulsing Otherworldliness”

NWEAMO Fest 2027 invites composers to submit works inspired by “Pulsing Otherworldliness.”
We are seeking music that explores pulse in its many forms – from natural pulses (heartbeat), planetary rhythms (tides), and micro-pulses (for example, hummingbird wings), to the driving pulse of dance traditions around the world.

Dates: February 13-14, 2017     Location: San Diego, CA

Deadline: August 1,2026      Submission Fee: $20.00 per composition

ARTISTIC FOCUS
Works may engage with:
• rhythm, vibration, repetition
• propulsion, trance, transformation
• unseen or mysterious energies across bodies, landscapes, communities, and imagined worlds

SUBMISSION CATEGORIES
Category 1: Composer-Provided Performers
• Composers bring their own performers
• Instrumentation: open (any instrumentation)

Category 2: NWEAMO Ensemble Works
• Works for NWEAMO Chamber Ensemble
• Instrumentation: any combination of flute (alto flute), violin, piano, and electronics

SUBMISSION MATERIALS
Please submit the following:

• Audio or video recording (for premieres, a MIDI mock-up is acceptable)
• Score (PDF format)
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENT
Selected composers are expected to attend the festival in person. Because NWEAMO Fest emphasizes live participation, works by composers who are unable to attend may need to be withdrawn from the program.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• Travel and accommodation: responsibility of the composer/performers

NOTIFICATION
Selected works will be announced in August 2026.

Results will be posted on the NWEAMO website and sent directly to selected composers by email.
